Shipping Rules & Liability
What can move, how it must be packed, and how coverage works when something goes wrong.
Prohibited items
- Explosives, fireworks, and ammunition
- Compressed gases and aerosols
- Flammable liquids and solids
- Loose lithium batteries
- Illegal drugs and paraphernalia
- Cash, bullion, and negotiable instruments
- Live animals
- Human remains
Restricted items
- Alcohol — licensed shippers and adult signature only
- Perishables — insulated packaging and expedited service required
- Firearm parts — subject to carrier and legal restrictions
- Fragile or high-value goods — declared value and reinforced packaging
- Batteries installed in devices — must follow carrier labeling rules
Packaging requirements
Use a rigid, undamaged box sized to the contents, cushion all six sides, immobilize contents, and seal every seam. Reused boxes must have all prior labels and barcodes removed.
Declared value
Default carrier liability is limited. If your shipment is worth more than the default coverage, declare the value at the time of purchase — undeclared value cannot be recovered later.
Claims
Report loss or damage as soon as it is discovered and retain all packaging and photos. Claims must be filed within the carrier's stated window; ShipAxis files and tracks the claim on your behalf.
Liability limits
ShipAxis arranges transportation and is not the carrier of record. Liability for loss, damage, or delay is limited to the coverage available under the applicable carrier tariff and any declared value purchased.
Refusals and inspection
Carriers may inspect, hold, return, or dispose of non-compliant shipments. Charges incurred from non-compliant tenders are the shipper's responsibility.
